Match Strike Liqueur Malette {N20173}

Match strikes were found atop bars and bistro tables throughout Europe in the 19th and early 20th centuries.  They feature a rough, textured section where the match tip can be struck to ignite.  In this faithful reproduction, the ribbed area above the base is for lighting matches.  The text reads FABRIQUEE A CAHORS (LOT) LIQUEUR MALETTE.  Glazed porcelain.  3.5" high x 3.75" diameter at bottom.  Imported.
