Don and John are big fans of France and, especially, Paris so they were thrilled to collaborate with French retailer Monoprix on two special PATCH NYC x MONOPRIX collections.
The first collaboration was a Holiday collection that allowed the designers to explore a multitude of product categories including table top, pillows, linens, candles, stationery, luggage as well as clothing and footwear. Working with Don's original ink drawings, John designed patterns that were printed onto materials from silk and velvet to paper and metal. The final collection of 80 plus pieces launched mid-November with an exclusive party and pop-up shop at the legendary Maxim's and posters announcing the collaboration were plastered throughout Paris.
The second collaboration was an early summer collection that was produced in large part by Creative Handicraft, a fair trade organization based in Mumbai, India. As part of the development process, Don and John traveled to Mumbai to work on the collection that included home accessories and fashion for men, women, children and babies. For this collection, Don created safari themed ink drawings including a zebra, leopard and giraffe. John then created pattern designs that were colored in a palette inspired by a spice market. The final collection of over 100 products launched mid-April with a party at the Monoprix store on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées and, again, posters announcing the collaboration were plastered throughout Paris
Both PATCH NYC x MONOPRIX collections garnered numerous press & blog mentions including Elle, Elle Decor and Marie Claire Maison. The collections were available exclusively in 200 plus Monoprix stores through France.
